After the success of the 1917 Revolution the Soviet Authority
embarked on a period of cultural change, which lead for a
brief period in 1922 - 1930 to a Renaissance in Avant-garde art
forms, which included a range of extraordinary buildings.
However, during the construction, some of these remarkable
buildings were not always successfully completed due to the fact
that the architect's preferred materials were not always available
and very often a cultural shift could take place in the use or
experimentation of these alternative materials which could lead to
the detriment of the original design.
