Clay and Paper Clay

 Continuing with the them... '13'
Playing around with ideas, using different materials.
Had chat with ceramics technician - Tim.  Came up with some interesting possibility's.
Decided to start with mixing together some paper clay, mix - 2 clay, 1 mulch paper.
Slow process and not sure of the outcome, but its all part of the learning.
Letting the clay dry to a leather consistency and forming it into a ball, but in my case its - The Rock.
Pinching bits of clay from my rock and rolling them out on a clean flat surface, forming into rods.
I could have used a board on top to create a more even roll, instead I used the flats of my hands,
gives a more organic feel to the work.
Took several hours to get to the stage before firing, (baking) three days in fact,
but I have been in the making mode and anything can happen.

Result after firing?  One break, but that happened before going in the kiln.
Happy with the results so far.

Warm glow with natural clay colour, tempting! but I have decided to add glaze.

Using a blue glaze, dipping process - really experimenting.
Have tried to brush the glaze on, but it don't really work.
Yes! there is brush on glaze, I want to use, but not for now.  I'm not precious about the finish.  I really want to have mistakes.  This gives me a chance to figure out possible ways around these mistakes and maybe leads on to other developments.  In a way I could say it was - or is - a bit like brainstorming, this can lead into other avenues, giving me a much wider range in possibility's.

Keeping busy while in the ceramics work-shop.
Coming up with some new ideas, yet again! and whilst I'm in the swing
of making and experimenting, lets try another twist?
